What lubricants do you use?

Proper lubrication is the most important factor in how a mechanical keyboard feels and sounds. At KeyCrox, we hand-lube every switch using industry-standard, premium lubricants to ensure an optimal typing experience.
Different types of switches require different lubricants and techniques. Here is our standard methodology:
Switch Lubricants
Linear Switches
For linear switches, we use Krytox 205g0. This provides a buttery smooth feel and significantly deepens the sound profile by eliminating scratchiness.
Tactile Switches
Tactile switches require careful attention. We primarily use TriboSys 3203 (a thinner lube) to ensure the switch remains smooth without losing its tactile bump. We avoid lubing the switch legs to preserve the tactility of the keystroke.
Clicky Switches
We do not offer lubing services for clicky switches (like Cherry MX Blue). Lubing clicky switches often ruins the clicky mechanism, turning them into inconsistent tactile switches.
Springs and Stabilizers
In addition to the switch housing and stem, we treat the other crucial components of your keyboard:
- Springs: All springs are bag-lubed with Krytox GPL 105 oil to eliminate metallic spring ping.
- Stabilizers: Stabilizer housings are lightly coated with Krytox 205g0, and the wires are coated with Krytox XHT-BDZ or Dielectric Grease to eliminate rattle.
